Celebrate August with Wellness, Peaches, and Sandwiches

Welcome to the August edition of the AmpleHarvest.org newsletter! As we savor the final days of summer, we are happy to celebrate National Wellness Month, National Peach Month, and National Sandwich Month. This is a great time to focus on our health and well-being by embracing fresh, delicious foods.

  • For Wellness Month, consider setting aside time for daily meditation or a new fitness routine. Enhance your wellness journey by spending time in your garden—tending to plants can be a meditative and rewarding experience.
  • Celebrate Peach Month by trying out recipes that highlight this juicy fruit, like peach cobbler or grilled peaches.
  • Sandwich Month is perfect for experimenting with new ingredients and flavors—consider adding bountiful tomatoes from your garden to your sandwiches for a burst of freshness and nutrients.

How has your summer been so far? We hope it's been filled with joy, relaxation, and perhaps even a bountiful harvest from your garden. This month, we invite you to join us in nourishing our communities by sharing surplus produce and reducing food waste. Let’s make the most of this vibrant season together!

Community and Classroom Success

This school year, let's cultivate success both in the garden and the classroom! Surplus produce from your garden can provide nutritious meals for students who might otherwise go without. Think of it as packing an extra lunch that nourishes and inspires. Together, we can grow a community where every child thrives.

Your Donations at Work this August

  • Increased the number of registered food pantries in our network by 10. This expansion allows more gardeners to connect with local food pantries, facilitating the donation of surplus produce and helping to nourish more communities nationwide.
  • Reduction in Food Waste: With more gardeners participating in the donation program, there has been a significant reduction in food waste. By diverting surplus produce from landfills to those in need, AmpleHarvest.org has contributed to a more sustainable food system.

Audacious? Daring? Doable?

AmpleHarvest.org is already helping over 5,000 communities fight hunger and food waste. We’re aiming to reach 10,000 communities within the next three years. That means millions more gardeners will be able to share their fresh harvests with local families, improving health and reducing waste across all 50 states. Want to be part of it? Watch this short video at www.AmpleHarvest.org/Closeup. Questions? Ideas? chat with us at info@AmpleHarvest.org.

Food banks are continuing to see large numbers of people needing food assistance. If you've planted a garden, think about growing more to feed more. If you can't grow a garden, share AmpleHarvest.org on social media, volunteer, or donate. Every act of kindness counts.
