September Brings a New Season – and a Familiar Mission

If you’ve been with us through spring plantings, summer harvests, and all the seasons in between, you know that this time of year is special. The garden is full, the air is changing, and the need in our communities remains as urgent as ever.

September is both Hunger Action Month and National Fruits and Veggies Month – a meaningful overlap that reminds us why your efforts matter. You've helped us get fresh food to pantries when it's needed most, and now is a perfect time to do it again.

If your garden is overflowing, consider donating the extra. Every tomato, squash, and apple can be a step toward a healthier, hunger-free community.

Thank you for growing with us. Let’s make this harvest count.

50,000 pounds of fresh produce!

Together, we can fight hunger one harvest at a time. Since 2020, Bonnie Plants employees have donated over 50,000 pounds of fresh produce with AmpleHarvest.org. They have 35+ gardens dedicated to growing donations! Read more…

Your Donations at Work this September

  • 30 more food pantries were added to the AmpleHarvest.org network, making it even easier for gardeners across the country to share their surplus produce. This growth means more fresh food reaching more families — and fewer fruits and veggies going to waste.
  • Thanks to increased participation from gardeners, more excess produce is being donated instead of discarded. Together, we’re turning potential waste into nourishment and helping build a healthier, more sustainable food system.

Audacious? Daring? Doable?

AmpleHarvest.org is already helping over 5,000 communities fight hunger and food waste. We’re aiming to reach 10,000 communities within the next three years. That means millions more gardeners will be able to share their fresh harvests with local families, improving health and reducing waste across all 50 states. Want to be part of it? Watch this short video at www.AmpleHarvest.org/Closeup. Questions? Ideas? chat with us at info@AmpleHarvest.org.

Food banks are continuing to see large numbers of people needing food assistance. If you've planted a garden, think about growing more to feed more. If you can't grow a garden, share AmpleHarvest.org on social media, volunteer, or donate. Every act of kindness counts.
